Wenger: Ramsey shouldn’t worry about scoring goals for Arsenal
The Arsenal manager tells Aaron Ramsey that he should focus on his overall displays and not getting on the scoresheet
Arsene Wenger has told Aaron Ramsey to focus on his overall performances and not worry about scoring goals for Arsenal.
The Wales international, who has recently spent time on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, has struggled to carry his stellar performances from last season into the new campaign.
He is not a goal-scorer so has not to be obsessed by that
He scored 16 goals in all competitions last season, including the dramatic extra-time winner against Hull City in the FA Cup final which brought Arsenal their first piece of silverware in nine years.
However, Wenger believes that the 23-year-old should aim to improve his all-round displays rather than worry about getting on the score-sheet.
“Aaron Ramsey is after consistency. He was very efficient last season and since the start of the season has not had a consistent run,” Wenger told a news conference on Monday.
“He is now coming back and so far he has not found the level that we used to from him.
“He is not a goal-scorer so has not to be obsessed by that.
“I just want him to do his job well. The goals are a consequence of the quality of his game.”
