Jack Wilshere has been ruled out of action for three months after undergoing ankle surgery on Thursday.

The Arsenal midfielder suffered the injury during the 2-1 defeat by Manchester United at Old Trafford at the weekend.

News of Wilshere’s latest injury setback prompted plenty of activity on Twitter – and here are some of the updates from sports stars on the social network.

Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) is the first to wish Wilshere well: “Another ankle injury and surgery will sideline @JackWilshere for a few months. Bloody shame! Wish him well.”
