Brendan Rodgers has backed Adam Lallana to have a “big impact” at Liverpool.

The England international scored his second Liverpool goal on Tuesday night as the Reds were 3-1 winners against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

Lallana has endured an injury-hit start to his Reds career after last year’s Premier League runners-up coughed up a £25m fee for the Southampton captain.

And Liverpool manager Rodgers, whose side are ninth in the table, is happy with Lallana’s performances since his big-money switch.

“I thought he was excellent the other night and he has been very, very good since he came in,” said Rodgers.

“Some of the changes of the team mean he has missed out tactically, but when he has played he has done very well.

“He took his goal really well. I have been delighted with him since he came here. He is a wonderful talent and he will make a big impact in his time here.”

Lallana has scored two goals and made one assist in eight Premier League games this season.
