Arsene Wenger insists that Arsenal are not being carried by Alexis Sanchez this season.

The Chile international scored yet another crucial goal on Wednesday night as he netted the late winner in the 1-0 victory over Southampton at Emirates Stadium.

Sanchez has now netted nine of Arsenal’s 22 Premier League goals this season but Wenger insists that his side are not too heavily reliant on the Chilean.

“It doesn’t reflect the truth,” said Wenger when asked if Sanchez is carrying Arsenal. “In goal-scoring yes he is dominant but in the game no.

“Unfortunately you never know how far you can push players. He has a great recovery speed.

“He has a huge desire with a fighting attitude. Missing chances doesn’t affect him.”
