Mesut Ozil has urged Arsenal to stop conceding “unnecessary goals”.

The Gunners have been in good form over the past month or so, winning five of their last six games in all competitions.

However, Arsene Wenger was heavily criticised after the Gunners produced a disastrous first-half performance which contributed to a 3-2 defeat at Stoke in November.

And Arsenal’s club-record signing Ozil is confident that the north London club will finish near the top of the Premier League table at the end of the season.

“When you watch the games, we’ve dominated a lot of them but have conceded unnecessary goals,” Ozil told Arsenal’s website.

“That can’t happen, because in the Premier League, every team is capable of beating one another.

“We have to get our points by playing the game our way… I’m convinced that we will finish the season near the top of the table.”

Ozil hasn’t featured for Arsenal since a 2-0 defeat by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in October.
