Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Arsenal are keeping tabs on Ipswich defender Tyrone Mings.

The Gunners have been linked with an £8m January swoop for the 21-year-old Portman Road defender in recent days, with Wenger said to have as much as £20m to spend on transfers next month.

And when asked about the speculation linking the north London club with a move for Mings, Wenger hinted that a swoop could be on the cards.

“We are not on any special case,” said Wenger on Friday when asked about his January transfer plans.

“There are a few young players we follow, yes. He [Mings] is one of the players we follow but we are not on anything there.”

Ipswich are understood to value Mings, who was largely developed at Southampton, at around £10m.
