Arsenal transfers: Arsene Wenger responds to Joel Campbell exit talk
Arsene Wenger insists that Arsenal have no plans to sell Joel Campbell next month
Arsene Wenger has insisted that Arsenal have no plans to sell Joel Campbell in the forthcoming January transfer window.
The Costa Rica international’s future has been a source of speculation in recent weeks due to his lack of playing time for the Gunners this season.
Campbell has not started a Premier League game for the Gunners and has been limited to just seven appearances in all competitions this term.
However, the striker played the full 90 minutes as Arsenal beat Galatasaray 4-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
And asked about Campbell’s future after the game, Wenger replied simply: “Campbell will stay with us.”
Wenger also revealed his delight at seeing Lukas Podolski scored twice in Turkey.
“It is a competition for places that is difficult,” said Wenger. “I had Danny Welbeck, Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud at home and you can only play a certain number of strikers.
“He came back later from the World Cup but he is now coming back to a very strong level.”
