And Wenger expressed is gratitude for Pardew’s comments ahead of Newcastle’s trip to Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening.
“Look, I’m very thankful for compliments, but I don’t want anything,” said Wenger.
“I wan’t just one thing, to do well my job for this club and that’s what I always try to do.”
Wenger also warned his side that they are in for a tough test against the Magpies, who became the first team to beat Chelsea this season last weekend.
“They had a great result last week,” he continued.
“They are doing well and are on a good run, so it will be a very interesting challenge for us.
“But I think we have a good dynamic in our team – we won four of our last five games, the one blip was against Stoke, but overall I think we are on a good trend.”
