Mesut Ozil says he can’t wait to make a return first-team action as the Arsenal midfielder nears fill fitness.

The Gunners playmaker hasn’t featured for the north London club since picking up a knee injury during a 2-0 defeat by in October.

However, the Germany international can’t wait to get back playing football for Arsenal after a two-month injury lay-off.

“After a time, you really miss playing football,” Ozil told Arsenal’s website.

“You miss the ball and just want to play. When you watch the games and think that you could have been playing, and playing well, it makes you miss it. But that’s the way things are.

“I’m working every day to get myself fit and I’m on the right path now. It won’t be much too much longer before I’m back on the pitch. I hope to be back training with the whole team again as soon as possible.”

Ozil has scored six goals in 31 Premier League appearances since his club-record £42.5m move to Arsenal from Real Madrid in 2012.
