John Hartson says Arsene Wenger will expect a reaction from his Arsenal squad against Newcastle United.

The Gunners were 4-1 winners against Galatasaray in the Champions League on Tuesday night, making amends for a 3-2 defeat by Stoke City at Britannia Stadium last weekend.

I know they can be got at the back but if they don’t concede early

Arsenal, who beat Hull City to win the FA Cup in May after a nine-year trophy drought, have only won six of their 15 Premier League appearances.

And former Gunners striker Hartson is confident that the north London side will get past Alan Pardew’s Newcastle on Saturday afternoon.

“There will be a lot of expectation and pressure and Arsene Wenger will want a reaction,” Hartson is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

“I know they can be got at the back but if they don’t concede early, keep the crowd with them and play with the pace they’ve got up front they should have enough.”

Arsenal are sixth in the Premier League table.
