Carragher, Owen and more: Twitter reacts as Liverpool beat Leicester
Jamie Carragher and Michael Owen tweet their thoughts after Liverpool's 3-1 win
Steven Gerrard answered his critics with his third goal of the season as Liverpool were 3-1 winners at Leicester City.
The Reds went behind after Simon Mignolet’s own goal, but Adam Lallana, Gerrard and Jordan Henderson turned the match on its head to seal a win for the visitors at the King Power Stadium.
And here is the best of the Twitter reaction from the professionals, past and present, in chronological order.
England legend Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) doesn’t rate the Liverpool goalkeeper’s performance: “A Mignolet own goal has given Leicester the lead. He’s having a bit of a shocker, to be honest.”
Ex-Liverpool full-back Vegard Heggem (@vedgy) celebrates the Liverpool captain’s strike: “Love it! Two great touches by Stevie there, first with a great one touch pass to Sterling. #LFC”
More from Foxes fan Lineker (@GaryLineker): “Wes Morgan has been shown a red card, but he’s been so poor Leicester may now improve.”
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) reckons Sterling has been the Reds best player: “Brilliant from Sterling. Lfc’s best player this season by a long way. What a talent… After being on the bench Gerrard has come on v Stoke goal scored, started tonight & scored. Use him right and there’s plenty left in him”
Ex-Liverpool striker Stan Collymore (@StanCollymore) highlights an interesting stat: “No English footballer has scored more Premier League goals in 2014 than Steven Gerrard.”
Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen (@therealmichaelowen) defends his pal: “Unfortunately whenever Gerrard plays poorly its put down to his age. Absolute rubbish. He is still Liverpool’s best midfielder, no question.”
