Andre Schurrle declared that Chelsea are capable of beating “everyone” after helping fire the Blues to a 3-1 win over Sporting Lisbon.

With the Blues already through to the Champions League last 16 as group winners, Cesc Fabregas put the Jose Mourinho’s side ahead in the eighth minute with a penalty after Felipe Luis had been fouled by Ricardo Esgaio.

Schurrle then doubled the lead in the 16th minute with a low strike before Sporting pulled a goal back in the second half through Jonathan Silva.

John Mikel Obi then tapped home from a Fabregas free-kick 10 minutes after half time to secure the victory.

“We wanted to win today after losing to Newcastle. We bounced back and had a good game,” said Schurrle.

“I could have had more goals. But I’m happy to score a good goal after not such a positive time for me. My body is not where I want to be but I’m happy with my performance.

“We can rotate and make changes and we still have so much quality on the pitch. We have a big squad – that’s’s what we need for our four goals.

“We don’t fear anybody. If we play our best we can beat everyone.”
