Jose Mourinho has reminded Chelsea’s critics that the Blues are still the best side in the Premier League.

The west London side’s 14-game unbeaten run came to an end at St James’s Park on Saturday after Newcastle United were 2-1 winners against the league leaders.

Chelsea are three points ahead of defending champions Manchester City after their first defeat of the season in all competitions.

But Blues manager Mourinho was defiant about Chelsea’s performance so far, declaring his Blues outfit as the best in the division.

“We are top of the league,” Mourinho is quoted as saying by ESPN. “Nobody has done better than us. Everyone would like to be in our position. So we are more than fine. We are better than anybody else.

“I don’t say my team is the best, I say my team is top of the league and at this moment nobody has the same points we have – because of that at the moment we’re the best team in the Premier League.”
