Chelsea’s Jose Mourinho: What I like most about Cesc Fabregas
Jose Mourinho wants his players to follow Cesc Fabregas' example this season after League Cup win
Jose Mourinho told his Chelsea players to follow Cesc Fabregas’ example after watching his side book their place in the League Cup semi-finals with a 3-1 win at Derby.
The Spaniard was named man of the match as Mourinho’s men progressed to the last four of the competition by beating their Championship opponents.
“He’s playing so well for us,” said Mourinho. “But what I like more than his quality is the person.
“He’s a professional. A big player like him, a world champion, coming here to play a League Cup match and playing the way he did – this is the kind of attitude I want in my players.
“I’m so happy with that because sometimes people don’t realise how difficult it is to play against Championship teams.”
Eden Hazard put Mourinho’s men ahead with a 20-yard shot in the 23rd minute, before Filipe Luis struck his first Chelsea goal 10 minutes after half-time.
Craig Bryson gave Derby hope by halving the deficit in the 71st minute, but Andre Schurrle wrapped up victory after Jake Buxton was sent off.
“Derby are a Championship side but not a typical one, they have more quality than that and they play good football with fantastic support,” Mourinho continued.
“We played in a very professional way and controlled the game for most of the time. They fought to the end and for a few minutes after they scored they were able to put us in trouble.”
