Chelsea booked their place in the semi-finals of the League Cup thanks to a 3-1 victory over Derby on Tuesday night.

Eden Hazard put Jose Mourinho’s men ahead with a 20-yard shot in the 23rd minute, before Filipe Luis struck his first Chelsea goal 10 minutes after half-time.

Craig Bryson gave Derby hope by halving the deficit in the 71st minute, but Andre Schurrle wrapped up victory after Jake Buxton was sent off.

Tuesday’s quarter-final prompted plenty of activity on Twitter – and here are some of our favourite updates, in chronological order.

Derby’s Jordon Ibe (@IbeJordon) is looking forward to the game: “Game v Chelsea.. C’mon boys. #DCFCvCFC”

Ex-Aston Villa man Ian Taylor (@IanTaylor7) praises Hazard’s sharp finishing: “That’s the difference. One mistake one goal. @hazardeden10….. #DCFC punished. 0-1 #CFC

Striker Demba Ba (@dembabafoot) is watching his former club in action: “Watching @chelseafc vs derby, what about JT left foot???!!!!!!”

Rodney Marsh (@RodneyMarsh10) isn’t impressed by the referee’s decision to send off Buxton late on: “So, was the derby defender denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity? #confused”
