Demba Ba wary of Liverpool threat in Europa League

The former Chelsea striker is expecting a tough Europa League last 32 tie against Brendan Rodgers' men

Demba Ba has warned his Besiktas team-mates that they are in for a “difficult” tie when they face Liverpool in the last 32 of the Europa League.

The Reds have been paired with the Turkish outfit after being parachuted down to Europe’s second-tier club competition following their Champions League elimination last week.

But despite Liverpool struggling to find consistent form this season, ex-Chelsea striker Ba is still braced for a testing encounter when the two sides face off next year.

“It’s a difficult pairing. Liverpool are having some hard times now,” Ba told Uefa’s website.

“They couldn’t get the results they desired and things are not going well for them. Hard games are ahead of us.

“They are a team which try to strike fast and build up the game as quickly as possible. Their technical capacity is high and they are physically strong.

“If we can snatch a good result in the first leg, it will be an advantage to be playing the second leg at home.”
