Glenn Hoddle believes Manchester United have more quality individuals in their squad than Liverpool.

The Red Devils have won five successive Premier League games after a 2-1 victory over top-four rivals Southampton at St Mary’s last Monday.

While Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie have been impressing for the Red Devils, Liverpool are without Mario Balotelli and Daniel Sturridge for the trip to Old Trafford.

And former Tottenham Hotspur manager Hoddle reckons Louis van Gaal’s men are favourites to win the North West derby on Sunday afternoon.

“Both sides are playing poorly and both are defensively weak. When the tactical systems aren’t working well, it tends to come down to the quality of the individuals, and that’s why I feel this game has come at the right time for United,” Hoddle told BBC Sport.

“With Robin van Persie coming into form and Wayne Rooney on the pitch, they have more experienced players of quality than Liverpool. And they have the momentum of five consecutive wins, however, scratchy they were.”
