Jose Mourinho admits that he would like to give more of his Chelsea players some time off during the hectic festive period.

The Blues play Sporting Lisbon in their final Champions League group game on Wednesday with their place in the last 16 of Europe’s elite club competition already secure.

Mourinho is set to rest a number of key players for Wednesday’s game, and confirmed that the likes of John Terry, Willian and Eden Hazard have been given time off.

“Terry, Willian and Hazard are on holidays,” said Mourinho.

“I would like to give the whole squad the time off but we are always playing and we have good solutions for those positions, so they are off and they will not play.

“We have so many matches to play in December, we are one of the few teams in the Premier League that also play in the Capital One Cup.

“Of the other teams involved in the Champions League, only Liverpool are involved in the Capital One Cup, they all have periods to rest, we don’t.”
