Jose Mourinho has told Louis van Gaal that the Manchester United manager will learn to accept the hectic festive fixture schedule in time.

Van Gaal admitted recently that he is not a keen admirer of the forthcoming Christmas Premier League schedule.

However, Chelsea boss Mourinho believes that that Dutchman will soon get used to the English top flight’s busy period.

“It’s a first time for him,” said Mourinho. “Next season it will be easier for him.

“My way of making it easy for me is just to think what we are giving to the people.

“It is difficult for all of us but we are special because we are giving to the people something they love.”

Speaking at the weekend, Van Gaal said: “I cannot change it, I don’t think it is good for the players that they play within two days of a match,” said Van Gaal.

“December shall be like that, and we have also family. I also have a wife, and kids and grandchildren and I cannot see them at Christmas.”
