Juan Mata has urged Manchester United to continue their winning streak at Southampton on Monday night.

The Red Devils are fourth in the Premier League table after securing their fourth successive Premier League win thanks to a 2-1 victory over Stoke on Tuesday.

It was our fourth victory in a row and we can climb to the third spot if we manage to win again

And United playmaker Mata, who scored the winner against the Potters, is eyeing three more points against the high-flying Saints at St Mary’s.

“Our position in the Premiership table is now better after defeating Stoke in Old Trafford last Tuesday,” Mata wrote in his blog, One Hour Behind.

“It was our fourth victory in a row and we can climb to the third spot if we manage to win again.

“That would be good news ahead of Christmas, although we want to get better and better throughout the whole month.”

Mata added that he is looking forward to meeting his former Valencia manager and current Southampton boss Ronald Koeman.

“They are third on their own merits with an outstanding run at home: 5 wins in 7 games, with 17 goals scored and only 4 conceded,” Mata added.

“It’s going to be a special reunion, since Ronald Koeman was my manager in Valencia when I won my first title as a professional footballer: the Copa del Rey.

“He was very important in my career because he gave me confidence and I played regularly, which is what every young player needs in his early years.”
