Liverpool legend blasts ‘ridiculous’ fuss over Martin Odegaard
Mark Lawrenson tells Liverpool fans not to pile pressure on triallist Martin Odegaard
Mark Lawrenson has criticised the “fuss” surrounding Liverpool target Martin Odegaard.
Stromsgodset teenager Odegaard has attracted interest from a host of top European clubs in recent months and he trained with the Liverpool squad last week as the rumours continue to circulate about his future.

Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United and Real Madrid are all said to be keeping tabs on the 15-year-old attacking midfielder.
However, Liverpool legend Lawrenson urged supporters not to pile pressure on the young Norwegian, who has scored five goals in 23 appearances for Stromsgodset.
“The fuss over Liverpool taking Norwegian teenager Martin Odegaard on trial is ridiculous. But that’s the era we are in,” Lawrenson wrote in his Liverpool Echo column.
“Odegaard may well turn out to be a brilliant player. But he’s not even 16. People are putting far too much pressure on him. In the old days, youngsters emerged through word of mouth among people in the game.
“Now every fan wants to say they spotted a young talent first. Listen, if you want to be a scout, join the cubs.”
