Ander Herrera believes Manchester United can catch Chelsea by the end of December.

The Red Devils are 11 points behind the current Premier League leaders after Louis van Gaal’s side were 2-1 winners against Stoke City on Tuesday.

I think we have the capacity to catch them up

And United midfielder Herrera is confident that their performance will continue to improve ahead of their trip to Southampton on Monday night.

“I think this month we can catch up,” Herrera is quoted as saying by Manchester Evening News.

“Southampton, Manchester City and Chelsea are over us, but I think we have the capacity to catch them up.

“Now the team is in fourth, but I think our football is going to be better.”

Herrera added that he is loving life at the Reds Devils following his £29m move to Old Trafford from Athletic Bilbao in the summer transfer window.

“It’s different, but it’s good because I love football,” added Herrera.

“I have always said the same – I love football, I love playing and I love to be at Manchester United.”
