Stan Collymore believes Manchester United still have an outside chance of winning the Premier League title this season.

The Red Devils can move to within eight points of current Premier League leaders Chelsea if the 20-time English champions beat Southampton at St Mary’s on Monday night.

Louis van Gaal’s side have won their last four top-flight games after a disappointing start to the season under their new manager, who signed a three-year deal in May.

And former Liverpool striker Collymore appeared to hint that he reckons United could launch an unlikely Premier League title bid after Chelsea lost 2-1 to Newcastle United on Saturday.

“You know whats going to happen don’t you… Man United are going to win the league,” Collymore wrote on Twitter.

“No, you’re right, United winning the League just can’t happen at all this season.

“Can it?”

Van Gaal has led United to seven wins in 14 outings since taking over at Old Trafford.
