Phil Jones has praised David De Gea for the goalkeeper’s recent stunning form for Manchester United.

The Spaniard has earned plenty of praise for a string of impressive displays for the Red Devils this term and was named man of the match after Sunday’s 3-0 win over Liverpool at Old Trafford.

And United defender Jones says that the 24-year-old shot-stopper is a pleasure to deal with, both on and off the pitch.

“He is terrific to work with,” Jones told United’s website. “Off the field he is a great lad; he is very humble and quiet.

“On the pitch, we are lucky to have him. After coming to the club, he had a difficult spell in his first year. But even going through that, we saw the ability he had in training and some of the saves he makes are unbelievable.

“We have seen what he is like and throughout the season he has been a credit to himself.”
