Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their reported pursuit of Nemanja Vidic after the defender’s agent insisted that he is set to stay at Inter Milan.

Reports this week had claimed that the Red Devils were lining up a shock January move to bring their former captain back to Old Trafford.

But agent Silvio Martina has rejected the reports, describing them as “lies”.

“There is no truth to rumours regarding a return to United – they are all lies,” Martina told calciomercato.com.

“He has a three-year deal with Inter, and he won’t move from Milan. It’s futile to comment on this foolishness.

“There is little respect for my client from the press, but not Inter. I repeat – he won’t leave Inter.”
