Roma have insisted that they have no plans on selling Kevin Strootman to Manchester United.

The Netherlands international has been touted as a possible target for the Red Devils as Louis van Gaal considers bolstering his squad during the January transfer window.

However, Roma’s general manager Mauro Baldissoni has declared that the midfielder is a key player in their plans for the future.

“We haven’t received any call from Manchester,” Baldissoni told Sky Sports News. “We are not planning to sell Kevin.

“Kevin is young and he has a long contract. We definitely want to build our team around him.”

The 24-year-old has made two Serie A appearances for Roma this season after returning from a serious knee injury.
