Parlour, Frimpong and more: Twitter reacts as Arsenal lose to Stoke
Ray Parlour and Emmanuel Frimpong tweet their thoughts after Stoke beat Arsenal
Arsenal fell to their fourth Premier League defeat of the season after Stoke City hung on to beat 10-man Gunners 3-2 at The Britannia.
The Potters broke the deadlock inside 20 seconds as Peter Crouch netted before Bojan Krkic and Jonathan Walters put the home side in command.
Santi Cazorla netted a second-half penalty before Aaron Ramsey made it 3-2 with a brilliant volley, but the Gunners failed to conjure a leveller as Calum Chambers was sent off.
Here is a selection of the best Twitter reaction from the professionals, past and present, in chronological order to Stoke’s win.
Ryder Cup golfer Ian Poulter (@IanJamesPoulter) is being facetious: “Great start from Arsenal…. Come on guys.”
Gunners legend Ray Parlour (@RealRomfordPele) wants a response from the north London side: “Let’s see what character we’ve got now after conceding so early. Tough place to play #britannia”
Spurs legend Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) is impressed by Bojan: “Stoke are 2 up against Arsenal. Bojan, who’s been superb, with the 2nd. The Gunners are in the red zone!”
Arsenal hero Ian Wright (@IanWright0) can’t believe what he is watching: “Really? really Arsenal!”
Ex-Liverpool man Don Hutchison (@donhutch4) highlights one area of weakness: “@IanWright0 easy in hindsight but belerin in at Stoke away!!”
No surprise here as Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) wants a certain Frenchman’s head to roll: “3-0. Wenger OUT.”
Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong (@IAMFRIMPONG26) sums up the emotions of Gunners fans: “F**** Bullocks mate”
Rodney Marsh (@RodneyMarsh10) cheekily reminds his followers of a quote from Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez: “RT ‘@Metro_Sport: Sanchez: Arsenal are just as good as Barcelona: http://ow.ly/FtaUN #afc’ >Ouch !!!”
Even Sky News anchor Kay Burley (@KayBurley) is getting in on the Arsene Wenger bashing act: “We only believe in @piersmorgan ‘@TheTweetOfGod: Are you there, Arsenal fans? It’s Me, God. Stoked?’”
More from Lineker (@GaryLineker0: “If Arsenal get something out of this game i sense a Mark Hughes rant at the disallowed 4th goal. Poor decision.”
And Parlour (@RealRomfordPele) can take the despair, it’s the hope he can’t stand: “3 2 come on lads #gooners”
