Daley Blind has taken to social media to pay tribute to his fellow compatriots after the Dutch Sports awards on Tuesday night.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal was named Dutch coach of the year, while striker Robin van Persie picked up the moment of the year award for his brilliant headed goal against Spain at the World Cup.

The Manchester United defender posted the picture above on his Instagram account on Wednesday afternoon and wrote: “Louis van Gaal Coach of the Year, Arjen Robben Sportman of the Year, @robinvanpersie Sport moment of the Year and the Dutch national squad Team of the Year, 4 awards!

“Proud of the team and being a part of it! It sure was a great night!”

Upon receiving his award, Van Gaal admitted to having “mixed feelings”.

He said: “We ended in third place, while there are many Olympic champions and world champions here tonight. Maybe I’ve won this award because of the media.”
