Daniel Sturridge has taken to social media to underline his desire to be back in action for Liverpool as soon as possible.

The striker has not featured for the Reds since August after suffering a string of calf and thigh injuries and is not expected to make a return until the New Year.

The 25-year-old posted the picture above of himself celebrating a Liverpool goal on his Instagram account and wrote: “Can’t wait for this feeling again ..”

Sturridge also took to Twitter after Liverpool’s 3-0 defeat by Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday to reveal his disappointment at the result.

He tweeted soon after the final whistle: “Absolutely gutted for everyone. Woke up and watched the game and it hurts. I’m optimistic though and I hope everyone else feels the same.

“Just know I’m working hard to ensure I’m back healthy. I miss everything about the game. I can’t wait to help us be successful. #redordead”
