Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho steps up his return from injury
Mamadou Sakho says he is “highly satisfied” to step up his rehabilitation from a thigh injury.
The Liverpool centre-half joined his Reds team-mates for a training session ahead of the trip to Leicester City on Tuesday night.
The France international hasn’t featured for the Merseyside outfit since the Reds’s penalty shootout victory over Middlesbrough in the League Cup in September.
But the 24-year-old centre-half is thrilled to be on a brink of a return to first-team action as he was put through his paces at Melwood training ground on Monday.

On Monday afternoon, Liverpool manager Rodgers revealed that defender Sakho wouldn’t be ready to face the Foxes at Anfield.
“The squad will be pretty much the same,” Rodgers told his pre-match media conference ahead of their trip to Leicester.
“Sakho trained yesterday with the team for the first time, but won’t be match-ready yet. And Mario is still not fit.”
Sakho has scored one goal in 24 appearances in all competitions following his £16m move from Paris Saint-Germain in 2013.
