Wayne Rooney looked relaxed after enjoying a rare Saturday off as Manchester United geared up for Monday’s trip to Southampton.

The Red Devils can close the gap to Premier League leaders Chelsea to eight points by beating the Saints at St Mary’s after the Blues’ loss to Newcastle.

Rooney posted a picture of himself along with wife Coleen and sons Klay and Kai on his Instagram account on Saturday evening.

The Manchester United captain wrote: “Nothing more important than family!”

Rooney has been passed fit for the trip to St Mary’s after recovering from the injury which caused him to miss the midweek win over Stoke City at Old Trafford.

The 29-year-old has scored five goals and made two assists in 10 Premier League games so far this season.
