Roberto Soldado has reflected on his first Premier League goal of the season.

The Spain international ended his goal drought in the top flight on Sunday as he scored a second-half winner against Everton.

Soldado has been criticised since his £27.5m switch to White Hart Lane from Valencia in 2012, scoring a disappointing six goals in 33 league games.

However, the 29-year-old was clearly moved by the support of the Tottenham fans as he posted his quote after the win with the caption, ‘Thanks’.

The quote in the photo read: “The moment the ref blew for HT everybody sung my name & I welled up a little bit, I had a tear in my eye. It was very special”

Soldado’s only other strike this season came against Nottingham Forest in the Capital One Cup in September.
