Ruud van Nistelrooy was in reflective mood on Twitter on Friday morning as the Manchester United legend recalled his memorable Villa Park winner in 2002.

The former Netherlands international played a key role as United came from 2-0 down to beat Aston Villa and book their place in the third round of the FA Cup.

Ian Taylor put the home side in front before United defender Phil Neville scored an own goal to leave United on the brink of exit from the cup competition.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer halved the deficit before Van Nistelrooy scored twice in two minutes and became the first United player to net in seven successive games.

And the 38-year-old, who has retired from professional football, afforded himself some nostalgia on Friday as he tweeted a photo of the classic FA Cup match.

Van Nistelrooy, who is the fourth-highest goal-scorer in Champions League history, netted 95 goals in 150 Premier League appearances for United.
