Wayne Rooney has taken to social media to reveal his excitement ahead of Manchester United’s showdown with Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Reds head to Old Trafford looking for a response after their Champions League exit in midweek following a 1-1 draw with Basel at Anfield.

The Red Devils, meanwhile, are in fine form and have won their last five Premier League games.

Rooney posted the picture above on his Instagram account and wrote: “TBT – Scoring against Liverpool in pre-season when we won the International Champions Cup. Big game coming up against them on Sunday!”

United are third in the Premier League table heading into the clash, while Liverpool are down in ninth after having won just two of their last seven games.

Brendan Rodgers’ side were 3-0 winner on their last trip to Old Trafford.
