Brendan Rodgers chats to Mamadou Sakho, Kolo Toure, Martin Skrtel and Brad Jones during Liverpool training
Brendan Rodgers could be set to restore Mamadou Sakho to his Liverpool starting line-up for the visit of Arsenal on Sunday.
The Reds manager was photographed talking to the France international, Kolo Toure, Martin Skrtel and Brad Jones during first-team training at Melwood on Friday.
The 41-year-old Northern Irishman has been employing a 3-5-2 formation in recent weeks, but Dejan Lovren’s groin problem could rule the centre-half out of action for the Anfield clash.
Sakho, who joined Liverpool in a £20m deal from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, was a half-time substitute against Bournemouth as he made his first appearance since September following a thigh problem.
Speaking at his pre-match media conference on Friday, Liverpool boss Rodgers confirmed that Croatia international Lovren was a doubt for Sunday’s game.
“We’re just waiting to hear on that – hopefully he’ll be fine,” Rodgers told his pre-match media conference. “We’ll assess that before the weekend.”
Liverpool are in 11th place in the Premier League table after last year’s runners-up suffered a 3-0 defeat by bitter rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend.
