Brendan Rodgers has confirmed Mario Balotelli and Mamadou Sakho won’t be ready to face Leicester City on Tuesday night.

The 24-year-old striker hasn’t featured for Liverpool since picking up a groin injury on international duty with Italy last month.

Rickie Lambert has been deputising for the 24-year-old summer signing with Daniel Sturridge still sidelined with a thigh problem.

Former Paris Saint-Germain defender Sakho won’t return to the Reds side for the trip to the Foxes as he continues to recover from a thigh injury.

“The squad will be pretty much the same,” Rodgers told his pre-match media conference ahead of their trip to Leicester.

“Sakho trained yesterday with the team for the first time, but won’t be match-ready yet. And Mario is still not fit.”

Balotelli has failed to score a Premier League goal since the striker’s £16m switch to the five-time European champions from AC Milan.
