Liverpool will face Chelsea for a place in the Capital One Cup final after the Reds were 3-1 winners against Bournemouth on Wednesday night.

Raheem Sterling scored either side of half-time to silence critics of his finishing, whilst Lazar Markovic netted his first Liverpool goal since a £20m move from Benfica in the summer.

And here is a selection of the best Twitter reaction from the professionals, past and present, in chronological order to Liverpool’s morale-boosting win in the League Cup.

Liverpool left-back Jose enrique (@Jesanchez3) is looking forward to their clash with Arsenal this weekend: “Great win by the team. In semifinals we are :) . Big game on Sunday too”

Reds striker Daniel Sturridge (@D_Sturridge) heaps praise on Sterling and Markovic: “Buzzing we’re in the semi finals!!! Well done to the lads and Raz for notching a couple. Also Lazar for scoring his first goal for LFC.”

Former Liverpool forward John Aldridge (@Realaldo474) can’t wait for the Merseyside outfit to renew their rivalry: “2 great games to look forward too.Could end up playing Chelsea 3 times in a week if we both get through the FA cup!!now that’s a thought.”
