Ben Davies says the Tottenham squad are thrilled for Roberto Soldado after the striker scored his first Premier League goal of the season.

Spurs moved up to seventh in the table after the north London side were 2-1 winners against top-four rivals Everton at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

And Soldado, 29, ended his goal drought in the English top-flight with a 46th-minute winner against the Toffees.

“Everyone was delighted for him,” said Davies.

“He’s been working his socks off for the team. He’s been working really hard. He’s such a good guy as well. We’re all very pleased to see him get his name on the score-sheet.”

Davies, who moved to Spurs from Swansea City in the summer, praised Tottenham for showing their fighting spirit in recent weeks.

“It was a good team performance,” added Davies.

“We stuck at what we knew we had to do and in the end it paid off for us.

“We had a good feeling of togetherness. Every player showed a big fighting spirit and the will to do well.

“We were all 100 per cent focused on what we needed and that really paid off. The effort and the work-rate is what took us over the line.

“Just showing that built the crowd behind us. The atmosphere was superb. The fans have been looking for us to perform. Hopefully this is a turning point and we can really kick on from here.”
