Tottenham transfers: Jan Vertonghen not looking to leave Spurs
Jan Vertonghen is happy at Tottenham Hotspur
Jan Vertonghen insists he isn’t looking to secure a move away from Tottenham Hotspur.
The Belgium international has one-and-a-half years remaining on his current Spurs deal after he completed a £10m switch to north London club from Ajax in 2012.
I feel a regular, even when everyone’s fit
The 27-year-old centre-half is reported to be unhappy with Mauricio Pochettino’s squad rotation policy at Tottenham.
However, Vertonghen is adamant that he has no problems with the Spurs manager, adding that he is first-team regular under the Argentine.
“I’m not focused on a transfer,” Vertonghen is quoted as saying by Daily Mail.
“I really like it over here. I have the feeling that, when everyone’s fit, I have my place in the team and I also feel I understand better what the manager expects from me.
“That I play less games than last season is not a problem. The manager wants to keep everyone fit, also with the Europa League campaign. No problem for me. But I feel a regular, even when everyone’s fit.”
Vertonghen has scored four goals in 59 Premier League appearances for Tottenham.
