Tottenham booked their place in the semi-finals of the League Cup by thrashing Newcastle 4-0 on Wednesday night.

Nabil Bentaleb put Spurs 1-0 up in the 18th minute at White Hart Lane before Nacer Chadli doubled their lead moments after half-time.

Harry Kane then made it 3-0, before Roberto Soldado rolled in to add gloss to the scoreline.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will face Sheffield United in the last four, while Liverpool will take on Chelsea in the other semi.

The game prompted plenty of reaction on Twitter – and here are some of our favourite post-match updates.

Kyle Walker is looking forward to the semis already: “Great result tonight, will be special to go back to Bramall Lane in the semis… can’t wait!!”

Roberto Soldado tweets his delight at the result: “We are in the semifinals!! Great job and effort team. Happy for my goal!!”

Ex-goalkeeper Ray Clemence chimes in: “Good wins @SpursOfficial and @LFC but tough draw against Chelsea in semi”

Gary Lineker reflects on the north London club’s victory: “Tottenham look like they might finally be turning a corner, having driven us around the bend all season.”

And Nabil Bentaleb is thrilled with the result: “Great win by all the lads! We’re on the right way lets keep going ! #COYS”
