Manchester United may have beaten bitter rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday, but Louis van Gaal was still in unforgiving mood with the media post-match.

The Red Devils manager was asked about David De Gea’s future after the Spaniard scooped the man-of-the-match award for his performance in a 3-0 victory over Liverpool.

United are speculated to be ready to offer the 24-year-old a new bumper contract amid reported interest from Champions League winners Real Madrid in recent weeks.

But Van Gaal was in no mood to discuss the Spain international’s future despite a satisfying victory over their bitter rivals on Sunday afternoon.

Irish reporter David McIntyre quizzed the United manager on his goalkeeper, prompting Van Gaal to respond:

“That is between the club and the player. It is not open for discussion with the media. So, point?”

When McIntyre added that the media would still like to know the state of play with a potential contract for the shot stopper, Van Gaal curtly replied:

“You don’t have to know. I don’t want to know what you’re doing next year.”

The Sky Sports and Setanta Sports journalist quickly offered to disclose his plans for 2015, but Van Gaal was in no mood to joke.

“I’m not interested!” Van Gaal added.

However, McIntyre appeared to enjoy his sparring with Van Gaal after he took to Twitter on Sunday night.
