Allardyce delivers latest West Ham injury update ahead of Liverpool trip
Sam Allardyce confirms Carl Jenkinson and Alex Song are doubts
Sam Allardyce has revealed that Carl Jenkinson and Alex Song are doubts for West Ham United’s trip to Liverpool on Saturday.
On-loan Arsenal full-back Jenkinson and former Gunners midfielder Song are contending with knocks which could rule them out of the Anfield clash.
The West Ham boss is also facing a defensive crisis with James Tomkins struggling for fitness, whilst centre-half James Collins returned to training on Thursday.
Speaking to the media this morning, Allardyce gave the latest injury update ahead of the Liverpool game: “We have a few knocks and bruises and one or two lads who have been on the treatment bench this week, particularly Song, Tomkins and Jenkinson – so we’re waiting to see how they are.
“Tomkins and Jenkinson are touch and go. Collins is joining in training today so hopefully he’ll be ok.”
Allardyce’s side were 3-1 winners against the Reds at the start of the season after goals from Winston Reid, Diafro Sakho and Morgan Amafilitano.
Liverpool have the chance to hoist themselves above seventh-placed West Ham if Brendan Rodgers’ side can beat the east London outfit on Saturday.
The Reds have three of their last six encounters with West Ham, drawing one game and losing to the Hammers twice.
