Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger sings Santi Cazorla’s praises
Arsene Wenger singles out Santi Cazorla for special praise after his recent top form for Arsenal
Arsene Wenger has heaped praise on Santi Cazorla following the playmaker’s impressive recent form for Arsenal.
The Spaniard put in a man-of-the-match display as the Gunners sealed a 2-0 victory at defending champions Manchester City on Sunday.
He scored one and set up the other as the north London side ended City’s 12-game unbeaten run.
And Wenger has singled out the midfielder for special praise ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Brighton and Hove Albion in the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
“He is a very talented football player,” Wenger told a news conference on Thursday morning.
“Since he has played centrally he has taken [his game to] another dimension, because on the flank he was a bit more exposed to things where he was not at his best.
“In the middle of the park, he gets you out of situations where you are under pressure. He is always technically perfect and in our recent games he has certainly been in the best form of his career.”
“Santi is happy to play, every day he is happy to be with the ball and to go out there. He is the perfect example for every young player to follow.”
The 30-year-old has scored five goals for Wenger’s side so far this season and was voted the club’s player of the month for December.
Cazorla, who scored for the Gunners in last May’s FA Cup final, has also notched up four assists for his team-mates so far this season in the Premier League.
Sunday’s win at City left Arsenal in fifth place in the table and 13 points behind leaders Chelsea.
