Australian Open 2015: Nick Kyrgios pays tribute to Andy Murray on Twitter

Nicholas Kyrgios congratulates Andy Murray on his straight sets victory to reach semi-finals

Nick Kyrgios has admitted Andy Murray was “just too good” after the sixth seed beat the home favourite in three sets to reach the Australian Open semi-final.

The 27-year-old Briton edged to a comfortable 6-3 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 victory over the 19-year-old Australian to set up a last-four clash with Rafael Nadal’s conqueror, Tomas Berdych.

And the prodigious teenager was quick to heap praise on the two-time Grand Slam winner on social media following his straight sets defeat in Melbourne on Monday morning.

Murray, who is three-time Australian Open runner-up, was particularly complimentary of Kyrgios in his post-match interview, and the Scot backed his beaten opponent to come back stronger.

Kyrgios, who came from two sets down to beat Andreas Seppi in thrilling fashion in the previous round, thanked his fans for all the Australian support over the past week-and-a-half.
