Bundee Aki out for at least two months

Connacht centre expected to miss eight to 10 weeks after going off injured against Edinburgh

Bundee Aki is set to miss at least two months with a ruptured ankle.

The 24-year-old went off injured towards the end of Connacht’s Guinness PRO12 defeat to Edinburgh at the Sportsground on Friday.

After an MRI and consultation with an orthopaedic surgeon, it was revealed that the former Counties Manukau and Chiefs man had sustained a ruptured syndesmosis.

Aki will have surgery next week and is expected to be out for eight to 10 weeks.

Versatile back Craig Ronaldson, who missed the 16-13 defeat to the Gunners, has completed the return-to-play concussion protocols and the 24-year-old is available for selection as Pat Lam’s side prepare for a crucial European Challenge Cup clash with Exeter Chiefs on Sunday.
