Carlo Ancelotti should be next Arsenal manager, claims Robert Pires
Robert Pires says that Carlo Ancelotti would be an ideal replacement for Arsene Wenger at Arsenal
Robert Pires believes that Carlo Ancelotti would be the perfect replacement for Arsene Wenger when the Frenchman leaves Arsenal.
Wenger’s future has been a source of speculation in recent years but the Gunners boss signed a new deal to keep him at the club until 2017 last summer after leading the north London side to FA Cup glory.
Ex-striker Thierry Henry has been touted as a possible successor to Wenger further down the line.
But former Arsenal midfielder Pires feels that Real Madrid boss Ancelotti would be an ideal replacement for Wenger at Emirates Stadium.
Pires told Goal: “Who is the perfect replacement? Thierry Henry? He understands football and Arsenal. I don’t know, but I like Carlo Ancelotti.
“But that’s my opinion, it doesn’t mean Arsenal need Ancelotti at this time.”
Wenger’s Arsenal reached the FA Cup fifth round on Sunday after securing a 3-2 win over Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Gunners’ next game is a home clash with Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday. Arsenal are currently fifth in the Premier League table and 12 points behind leaders Chelsea.
