Chelsea transfers: Wolfsburg respond to Andre Schurrle reports
Wolfsburg deny claims that they are interested in signing Andre Schurrle from Chelsea this month
Wolfsburg have emphatically denied reports that they are interested in signing Andre Schurrle from Chelsea this month.
The German World Cup winner’s future has been a source of speculation in recent months due to his lack of playing time for the west London club.
Schurrle has been limited to just five starts in the Premier League for Chelsea so far this season and just nine in all competitions.
Wolfsburg have been reported to be keen on luring the 24-year-old back to Germany in recent days, but the club’s sporting executive Klaus Allofs has denied the claims.
“A very clear no,” Allofs told Bild. “There’s nothing to [the speculation]. Even if we were interested, we’d certainly not be alone.”
Speaking last week, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho insisted that he has no plans to sell any of the Blues’ players this month.
“If possible we don’t want to be involved in the transfer window,” Mourinho told reporters on Friday.
Mohamed Salah is another fringe player to have been linked with a transfer away from Stamford Bridge during the current transfer window.
