Colombia boss: Radamel Falcao finding it difficult at Man United
Jose Pekerman says that Radamel Falcao is struggling to make an impact at Old Trafford
Colombia boss Jose Pekerman admits that Radamel Falcao is struggling to find consistent form at Manchester United.
The forward has endured a mixed start to his loan spell at Old Trafford since joining the club from Monaco last summer.
He has scored three goals and made three assists in 13 Premier League games for Louis van Gaal’s side this season.
But despite Falcao’s failure to impress on a regular basis, his national team coach is backing the 28-year-old to improve in the coming weeks.
“It’s a difficult period for him, but he’s a proven player with regard to his mentality and he’ll keep on working hard,” Pekerman told Caracol Radio.
“I’m sure that this [difficult period] will just be temporary and he will come through it, I don’t have any doubt.
“The most important thing is that he is well [after his injuries].
“Sometimes these situations are not easy… it’s a shame because he’s a lad we want to be playing regularly as he’s a great player, but I expect it will sort itself out soon.”
Falcao has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford at the end of the season after his agent earlier this month insisted that nothing was certain regarding his client’s future.
His future became a source of speculation after he was left out of the Red Devils’ matchday squad for the 1-0 defeat by Southampton at Old Trafford earlier this month. He played the full 90 minutes as United beat Queens Park Rangers 2-0 last weekend.
