Christian Eriksen scored twice as Tottenham Hotspur survived a plucky late challenge from Sheffield United to set up a Capital One Cup final clash against Chelsea.

United’s 18-year-old substitute Che Adams cancelled out the Dane’s brilliant free-kick to leave the tie on the brink of extra-time before Eriksen bagged an 88th-minute winner.

Here is a selection of the best tweets from the professionals, past and present, to Tottenham’s League Cup semi-final triumph at Bramall Lane on Wednesday night.

Former Spurs chairman Lord Sugar (@Lord_Sugar) says the north London side made things unnecessarily difficult: “We make hard work of it 2-3 Spurs thanks to Eriksen”

Tottenham legend Ray Clemence (@RayClem1) praises Eriksen’s clinical finish: “Looked like extra time then brilliant pass @hkane28 and calm finish by Eriksen #Wembley”

Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen (@Jan_Vertonghen) keeps his post-match social-media message short and sweet: “#road2wembley”
