Jose Mourinho demands more from Chelsea fans
Jose Mourinho wants to hear more from Chelsea fans next week at Stamford Bridge
Jose Mourinho has asked Chelsea fans to give improve their home support ahead of the return leg of their League Cup semi-final tie with Liverpool.
The Blues were held to a 1-1 draw by Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday night after Eden Hazard’s penalty was cancelled out by Raheem Sterling’s second-half equaliser on Merseyside.
The result leaves the tie in the balance as Brendan Rodgers’ men prepare for their trip to west London for the return leg next Tuesday.
And Mourinho wants to see more from the Stamford Bridge faithful when they host the Reds next week.
“If Stamford Bridge can give us 25 per cent of the emotion Anfield gives Liverpool, I think we can do it. Liverpool, instead of 40,000 fans, they will have five or 10 (thousand),” Mourinho told Chelsea TV.
“Chelsea, instead of 1,000, will have 40,000. I hope that can make a difference in the atmosphere.”
Chelsea are currently five points clear of second-placed Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.
The Blues sealed a 2-1 victory at Anfield on their last visit to Merseyside in the Premier League.
Mourinho’s men host Bradford at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday afternoon before the return leg of their League Cup semi-final.
